Kuala Lumpur: As the excitement builds ahead of the first legs of this week's AFC Champions League quarter-finals, all eyes will be on FC Seoul’s Adriano to see if the livewire striker can maintain his lethal ways in front of goal.
In eight games, the 28-year-old has netted eleven times and his brilliant displays are one of the reasons why the K League Classic outfit finished top in Group F and then edged out Urawa Red Diamonds in the Round of 16.
He has already sailed past the figure last season’s top scorer achieved throughout the entire campaign - Ricardo Goulart notched eight goals to propel Guangzhou Evergrande to their second Champions League crown.
Furthermore, Adriano has also beaten the tallies of Jose Mota (Suwon Bluewings) and Lee Dong-gook (Jeonbuk Motors), who topped the scoring charts in 2010 and 2011 respectively with nine goals apiece, as well as Leandro who bagged ten for Gamba Osaka in 2009.
Muriqui currently holds the record for the most AFC Champions League goals a season thanks to the 13 strikes he netted during Guangzhou Evergrande’s title-winning campaign in 2013.
Here, the-afc.com takes a look back at each of the Brazilian’s eleven strikes so far in 2016.
