2017 AFC Cup Play-off Qualifiers: Tertons FC, Three Star Club go through

Kuala Lumpur: Bhutan’s FC Tertons and Nepal’s Three Star Club joined Dordoi FC in the next phase of qualifying for the 2017 AFC Cup as the action in Groups B and C of the tournament’s Play-off Qualifiers came to an end on Thursday.

Group C: FC Tertons 4-3 Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Limited

Thimpu: Bhutan’s FC Tertons survived a late rally from Bangladesh’s Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra to record a 4-3 win and ensure their passage through to the next stage of qualifying for the 2017 AFC Cup.

Needing a win to guarantee pole position in Group C, Tertons followed up their opening 0-0 draw against Tatung FC, with an impressive first half display against Sheikh Russel.

Livewire forward Chencho Gyeltshen opened the scoring on 18 minutes with a fierce drive, before Jean Jules Ikanga headed home Jamal Bhuyan’s curling free-kick a mere two minutes later to level matters.
