Kuching: Having converted from the spot twice to help Mongolia beat Sri Lanka 2-0 in the AFC Solidarity Cup Malaysia 2016 on Sunday, Nyamosor Naranbold aims to score again, penalty or otherwise, in their do-or-die game against Laos on Wednesday.
Naranbold’s second-half penalty brace kept the Mongolians’ hopes of a place in the semi-finals alive, having opened their campaign with a 2-1 loss to Macau, who clinched Group B’s first ticket to the semis after downing Laos 4-1 in Wednesday’s other game.

The 24-year-old striker scored in the 50 and 66 minutes to give the Mongolians their first win of this year’s competition and sets up a crucial showdown with Laos as the two countries battle it out for the group’s remaining berth in the last four.
“I’m very happy with the two penalty goals that I made against Sri Lanka. As a striker, of course we try to score goals in normal playing time and not depend on penalty kicks to win but goals are goals and I don’t mind even if they are penalties as long as we win.
“Next we will face Laos for the group’s remaining ticket to the competition’s semi-finals and we will try our best to win. I don’t know exactly what is going to happen as it depends on a lot of things, but we will do our best.
“We will prepare even harder for the Laos game and give our 100 percent to the game. It’s a do-or-die tie. We want to score again, penalty or not.”
