AFC announces postponement of AFC U-23 Group B qualifiers

Kuala Lumpur: Group B of the qualifiers for the AFC U-23 Championship 2016 scheduled to take place in Lahore has been postponed due to security concerns following the recent troubles in the Youhanabad area of the city.

After closely monitoring the situation the AFC has decided that it is in the best interests of the participating Member Associations and match officials that they do not travel to Lahore at this time.

Group B, which features Jordan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan as well as hosts Pakistan, was scheduled to be played at Lahore’s Punjab Stadium from March 23 to 31.

A decision on an alternative venue and schedule will be taken after discussion with the relevant parties and announced in due course.
