Kuala Lumpur: Eight nations participating in the inaugural AFC Women’s Futsal Championship in September will learn their opponents during a draw at AFC House in the Malaysian capital on Tuesday.
The event invitations were based on participation in the previous two editions of the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.
China, Hong Kong, Iran, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Uzbekistan and Vietnam will be divided into two groups of four teams.
Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games 2013 champions Japan and runners-up Iran will be ranked first and second respectively for the draw while the remaining teams will be unranked.
Indonesia have been removed from the competition due to a FIFA suspension, while Jordan have withdrawn from the competition.
The premier national women’s futsal competition will be held from September 21 to 26, 2015 in Malaysia.
