Kuala Lumpur: Australia has promised a more spectacular organising of the Asian Cup when the Asean nation hosts the continent’s premier championship in 2015.
Speaking at the AFC Asian Cup 2011 Conference in Kuala Lumpur on Friday, Football Federation Australia Head of National Teams and Football Development John Boultbee said:
“The excellent organising of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011 is a source of inspiration for us and has set the newest benchmark that Australia will try to equal or exceed in order to stage the best Asian Cup yet.
“Work is already underway in all aspects of organising in Australia and we hope this will contribute to stronger Asian teams who will someday become the world’s champions.”
In his presentation, Boultbee touched on several aspects of organising the 2015 Asian Cup such as the tournament structure, teams’ logistics and venue proposal, travel format, training sites and schedule, visa and customs requirements and promotion.
“The proposed competition period is 9-31 January which will provide an ideal climate with perfect weather,” he said.
“AFC, its marketing partner World Sports Group and the Local Organising Committee have agreed in principle to establish a joint marketing fund to promote the competition internationally.”
