Hong Kong: Tan Chun-lok’s first half goal secured Hong Kong a 1-1 draw with DPR Korea in Group B of qualifying for the AFC Asian Cup on Tuesday as Kim Pan-gon’s side bounced back from an opening day defeat at the hands of Lebanon.

Tan gave the home side the lead on the stroke of half-time before a goal from Kim Yu-song just seconds after the restart earned DPR Korea, who were playing their first game of the current round of qualifying, a share of the points.
Hong Kong coach Kim Pan-gon fielded a side that featured a back three for the second game in a row following their 0-0 friendly draw with Jordan last week as the coach from Korea Republic sought a recovery after seeing his side lose 2-0 in Lebanon on Matchday One.
The visitors dominated the opening period, with Pak Kwang-ryong hitting the cross bar in the 21st minute with a header while Myong Cha-hyon’s attempt was just over the target 10 minutes later.
Hong Kong, though, took an unlikely lead just seconds before the interval when Tan scored from Alexander Akande’s cross, giving the home side the advantage.
The joy of Kim Pan-gon and his players was not to last long as Kim Yu-song, currently the leading scoring in this season’s AFC Cup with his club side 4.25 SC, capitalised on a mistake in defence from Hong Kong to pull DPR Korea level.
The result leaves both teams level on one point, with Hong Kong having played twice and DPR Korea holding a game in hand over Tuesday evening’s opponents.
