International Friendlies Wrap: Hong Kong, China shine; Singapore involved in thrillers

Kuala Lumpur: Several nations were involved in friendlies during the international break with Hong Kong, China continued showing progress under new head coach Ashley Westwood after an impressive 3-1 win over Philippines.

Singapore were involved in two five-goal thrillers - winning one and losing the other, Thailand played to two draws while Malaysia defeated Laos before battling to a stalemate with India.

Shenzhen: The AFC U20 Asian Cup™ China 2025 is primed for thrilling action following the conclusion of the official draw at Grand Skylight International Guanlan in Shenzhen, China PR on Thursday.

The 16 teams were drawn into four groups with not just continental glory at stake but also four tickets to the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2025 in Chile.

Viet Tri: Yemen played to a 1-1 draw with Vietnam to finish top of Group I and confirm their spot in the AFC U17 Asian Cup™ Saudi Arabia 2025 Finals on Sunday.

The win put Yemen on seven points, while Vietnam progressed as one of the best five runners-up.

Myanmar, meanwhile, ended their campaign with a win after upsetting Kyrgyz Republic 2-1.

Vietnam revived their hopes after defeating Myanmar 2-0 in the other fixture.

Viet Tri: Yemen made a strong start to their AFC U17 Asian Cup™ Saudi Arabia 2025 Qualifiers Group I campaign after defeating Myanmar 6-1 on Wednesday.

In the second match, Vietnam and Kyrgyz Republic played to a goalless stalemate.

Jakarta: Indonesia confirmed their ticket to the AFC U20 Asian Cup China™ 2025 after a 1-1 draw with Yemen saw them finishing as the Group F winners.

Both teams finished on seven points, with Indonesia having the better goal difference. Yemen, however, qualified as one of the best five second-placed teams.

Timor-Leste, meanwhile, ended their campaign on a positive note after defeating Maldives 4-1 earlier on Sunday.

Jakarta: Yemen secured their second win in a row after defeating Maldives 3-0 in their AFC U20 Asian Cup™ China 2025 Qualifiers Group F tie at the Madya Stadium on Friday.

Hosts Indonesia also notched their second victory after defeating Timor-Leste 3-1, and their meeting with Yemen on Sunday will decide the Group F winners.

#AFCU20 Qualifiers draw finalised

Kuala Lumpur: The draw for the AFC U20 Asian Cup™ 2025 Qualifiers concluded at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday.

The 45 teams were divided into 10 groups - five of four each and five of five each - with the Qualifiers to be played between September 21 and 29, 2024.

The 10 group winners and five best second-placed teams will advance to the Finals, with China PR scheduled to host the tournament.

#AFCU17 Qualifying groups decided

Kuala Lumpur: The draw for the AFC U17 Asian Cup™ 2025 Qualifiers was finalised at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday.

The 43 teams were divided into 10 groups - seven of four each and three of five - with the Qualifiers to be played between October 19 and 27, 2024.

The 10 group winners and five best second-placed teams will advance to the Finals, with Saudi Arabia scheduled to host the tournament.

Group H: Yemen strike late to hold Nepal

Dammam: Yemen scored in added time to deny Nepal a winning farewell as the two sides drew 2-2 in Group H of the Preliminary Joint Qualification – Round 2 for the FIFA World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™ on Tuesday.

Sanjeeb Bista and Gillespye Jung Karki had turned the game around for Nepal after they had gone behind to a Nasser Al Gahwashi penalty but Mohammed Al Dahi struck the equaliser in the first minute of additional time to salvage a point for Yemen.
