Sydney: Premier winners and 2012 AFC Champions League qualifiers Brisbane Roar picked up four prizes at the 2010/11 A-League Awards Night on Sydney.
For guiding the Roar to a first-place finish at the end of the regular season with a record unbeaten streak, Ange Postecoglou (pictured) was named the Coach of the Year while a stellar season from Michael Theoklitos earned the former Melbourne Victory custodian the Goalkeeper of the Year prize.
A superb volley against Gold Coast United from Erik Paartalu saw the former Greenock Morton midfielder scoop the SOLO Goal of the Year award while accruing the least red and yellow cards saw the Roar also win the Fair Play award.
The Roar duo of Thomas Broich and Matt McKay finished second and third respectively behind Adelaide United’s Argentine midfielder Marcos Flores in the vote for the winner of the Johnny Warren Medal, awarded to the season’s standout performer following a vote from the A-League players.
Meanwhile Flores’ Adelaide team-mate and former Roar striker Sergio Van Dijk collected the Reebok Golden Boot Award for his 16 regular season goals.
Central Coast Mariners Goalkeeper Matthew Ryan was presented the NAB Young Footballer of the Year Award while Gold Coast United Youth team captain, Steven Lustica, was named the National Youth League 2010/11 Player of the Year.
