Bishkek: The Football Federation of Kyrgyz Republic has held the first grassroots festival in the central Asian nation, a pivotal step towards a grassroots programme which is set to kick off by the spring of 2014.
Seventy experienced and beginning boys and girls from the Football Federation of Kyrgyz Republic (FFKR) Football Centre took part in the FIFA Grassroots Festival conducted by 18 coaches as part of their FIFA/MA Grassroots Course’s programme.
“It was a historic step we made with the FIFA Grassroots Course and FIFA Grassroots Festival,” said FFKR Technical Director Kenichi Yatsuhashi.
“There were many moments during the course that challenges posed to both the participating coaches and instructors, however, with great determination and persistency, we managed to achieve our goals.
“It was also very positive to see all the coaches from the different parts of the country to work together as a team. It was an extremely important step as we are starting the FFKR Grassroots Programme by spring of 2014.
“We believe in the philosophy ‘Football for All’.”
The festival in Kyrgyzstan augurs well with the theme of this year marked as AFC Grassroots Year 2013 which is being observed by AFC Member Associations.
The Grassroots Year encourages Member Associations to organise activities to promote and emphasise that football is accessible and socially beneficial to everyone and that a strong foundation will allow players to progress to the elite level.
