Zurich: The Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) members have announced that they will be voting for Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President, in Friday’s FIFA Presidential election in Zurich.
The six nations who form CAFA joined the East Asian Football Federation (EAFF) and South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) in declaring their support for the Asian Football Confederation President in his campaign to be the next FIFA President.
CAFA comprises six countries – Afghanistan, IR Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan – and they met in the Swiss city after the AFC’s Member Association lunch on the eve of the Extraordinary FIFA Congress.
Altogether the 22 members of CAFA, SAFF and EAFF who are eligible to vote, have declared their support for Shaikh Salman, who they say will provide world football with the best leadership as FIFA seeks to restore its credibility and trust.
