New Delhi: The Japan Football Association has been named the AFC Dream Asia award winner at the AFC Annual Awards 2015 gala in the Indian capital city of New Delhi on Sunday.
With a Grand Dream 2050 master plan, Japan has initiated various social responsibility activities in each and every part of the country;
Among them are the JFA Kokoro (Heart), which is a well-structured ‘Dream Classes’ programme (pictured) implemented successfully to enhance children's inner growth and character by using football as a tool, and the JFA Respect Project which aims to educate and promote the spirit of respect among Japanese society.
Japan has donated football equipment in Asia in order to provide equal opportunities for children and has made generous contributions to other Member Associations in the wake of major natural disasters and supported their reconstruction projects.
The East Asian country has also collaborated with the AFC in the ‘One Goal Campaign’ in Japanese society and ensured J.League teams become social change agents by involving them in charity matches and fundraising programmes.
The AFC Dream Asia award, which is open to individuals, corporations, NGOs and Member Associations, is given in recognition of those who share the values of Dream Asia, the AFC’s social responsibility initiative, which promotes the culture of giving and emphasises the power of football in bringing about positive change in Asian society.
