Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa has hailed the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) for its efforts in developing the game as they revealed a new ‘F:30 Road Map’ in the capital city of Malaysia on Wednesday.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who was also present during the ceremony, and Shaikh Salman were briefed by FAM President YH Dato’ Haji Hamidin bin Haji Mohd Amin during the ‘F:30 Road Map’ launch.
“As you know, Malaysia is a very important country for football in Asia – and not just because it it is home to the AFC House,” Shaikh Salman expressed.
“Traditionally, Malaysia have been one of the powerhouses of ASEAN football and that is why I am delighted to see their new Road Map being unveiled.”

Kuala Lumpur: The 28th Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Congress today approved changes to its Statutes, which align the AFC with the highest principles of good governance.
The AFC Congress overwhelmingly approved the recognition of the five Asian Regional Associations and ‘welcomed them as partners’ in delivering the AFC’s Vision and Mission in the years ahead.
Also approved was a change in the Statutes which requires candidates for the office of the AFC President to be nominated by at least three Member Associations – but not necessarily by the Member Association they represent.

Kuala Lumpur: Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, the AFC President, has called for ‘fair play’ in next year’s AFC and FIFA Elections without ‘third party interference.’
Speaking at the closing of the 28th AFC Congress, Shaikh Salman told the AFC delegates that the next time they all meet would be for the elections, which will be held on April 6, 2019 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The AFC President said: “As you know our elections are always based on the spirit of fair play. Like in football, the rules and regulations must be respected.
“In Asia and particularly here at the AFC, we have built a positive reputation and image in the last five years. We do not need nor do we want any third party interference or influence in our elections. We need to be strong on this matter.”

Kuala Lumpur: AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa announced the support of the Asian football family for the FIFA President, as well as FIFA’s proposal to revamp and introduce new competitions for the benefit of the global game.
