Doha: Al Duhail stayed undefeated to finish with a near perfect record in the Qatar Stars League (QSL) 2017-18 season, claiming their sixth title on Saturday.
Djamel Belmadi’s charges beat Al Sailiya 5-2 on their final matchday, ending their season with 19 wins and three draws out of 22 games.
Almoez Ali opened the scoring in the eighth minute for Al Duhail to take the lead, before Ismaeel Mohammad scored in the 27th and 42nd minutes for a 3-0 advantage in the first half.
Their dominance continued with Nam Tae-hee finding the back of the net nine minutes after the restart, while Al Sailiya managed to pull one back 10 minutes from time with Valentin Lazar’s strike but Korean international Nam restored their four-goal lead five minutes later.
Lazar scored a consolation goal in the 90th minute, as Al Duhail went on to claim all three points and the QSL crown, concluding the season with 60 points, with Al Sadd trailing 11 points behind in second place.
