Hue: AFC One Goal ambassadors Steve McMahon and Do Thi Ngoc Cham paid a visit to Vietnam recently to raise awareness of the importance of child nutrition in Asia and specifically in Vietnam, who are the hosts of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup in May.
Former Vietnam’s national player Do Thi Ngoc Cham and former English professional footballer Steve McMahon participated in activities that educated mothers about the methods and importance of preparing a nutritious meal to encourage better healthcare.
Ngoc Cham and McMahon exchanged experiences, stories and gifts with the children during the activities held at Nutrition Clubs formed by World Vision Vietnam (WVV), an organisation focused on promoting good nutrition for children, as well as participated in training sessions and some fun activities with football clubs which are part of the child and grassroots football development programme of NGO Football for All in Vietnam (FFAV).
Steve McMahon is a former Liverpool and England national player while Do Thi Ngoc Cham is a former Vietnam national player and Vietnam Golden Ball Award winner.
The tour was organised by the AFC and One Goal, a partner driven campaign which includes the AFC and additional core partners World Vision, Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), Royal DSM and the Asian Football Development Project (AFDP).
