Hsinchu: Despite having confirmed qualification for the AFC U-19 Championship 2018, Vietnam were in no mood to relax as they beat Laos 4-0 in their final Group H qualifying tie at the Hsinchu County Second Stadium in Chinese Taipei on Wednesday.
The win meant Vietnam ended their campaign with a perfect record of three wins, having defeated Macau (2-0) and Chinese Taipei (2-1) in their earlier matches.
Midfielder Tran Bao Toan got the ball rolling for Vietnam against Laos, scoring their first in the 36th minute.
Dung Quang Nho doubled the lead just two minutes later as Vietnam cancelled out Laos' challenge in the first half itself.
Defender Nguyen Ly Nam Cung (61st) and midfielder Truong Tien Anh (74th) completed the win for Vietnam who can now look forward to preparing for the Finals in Indonesia next October.
Chinese Taipei sealed second place in the group after a 2-0 win over Macau.
A stoppage time penalty converted by Tu Shao-chieh gave the hosts the lead just before the break.
Wang Chung-yu ensured the three points for his side with his strike in the 77th minute as Chinese Taipei finished with six points.
