Kuala Lumpur: The AFC U-19 Women’s Championship 2013 Qualifying Rounds 1 and 2 Draws were conducted at AFC House on Friday with some group rivalries of the last edition renewed.
Jordan and Iran, the 2011 edition’s Group B rivals, were pooled together into again Group B of the upcoming first round of qualifiers, along with new entrants Tajikistan and Palestine during the draw.
Bangladesh and India, who were members also of Group B in last year's first qualifying round, are again head to head in Group A, with Uzbekistan, who crashed out of last year’s Round 2 and new entrants Kyrgyzstan, completing the group.
AFC Women’s Competitions Director Julie Teo conducted the draw.
The teams ranked 8th and below, with the ranking based on the 2011 championship, and new entries will play in Qualification Round 1 which will take place in India and Jordan on 19-28 October 2012.
The participating MAs in the Central, South and West regions were drawn into two groups of four teams each, while the East/ASEAN zones already consist of Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Myanmar and the Philippines (four teams).
Each group shall play a one-round league, where each team in the group shall play one match against every other team and the top two teams from each group (total six teams) will proceed to Qualifying Round 2 which will be held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on 1-9 December 2012.
For Round 2, ranked-seventh Thailand have been drawn into Group A while Vietnam, ranked sixth, into Group B.
