Doha: Qatari side El Jaish have announced the signing of Uzbekistan international Sardor Rashidov on what is reported to be a three-year deal.
Rashidov who moves to El Jaish from Uzbek giants Bunyodkor, has been an almost permanent fixture for his country since making his international debut for the White Wolves in October 2013.
The talented 24-year-old, Bunyodkor’s top scorer last season, was also a key figure for Uzbekistan during their 2015 AFC Asian Cup campaign in Australia where he netted twice against Saudi Arabia to book Mirdjalal Kasimov’s side a place in the quarter-finals.
Having secured Rashidov’s services, El Jaish, who finished third in their recently completed Qatar Stars League campaign to secure a spot in the 2016 edition of the AFC Champions League, are not surprisingly, looking for their new signing to have a distinctly positive impact.
“Rashidov has an eye for goals. Everybody saw his potential at the last Asian Cup in Australia,” said El Jaish’s Yousef Dezmal.
“He’ll be a great addition to our club and our [head] coach Sabri Lamouchi has a lot of confidence in him.”
