Hot-shot Hammadi bags AFC Cup MVP and Top Scorer awards

Doha: Hammadi Ahmed enjoyed a night of triple celebration in Doha as he was named the AFC Cup 2016’s Most Valuable Player and Top Scorer after Air Force Club became the first side from Iraq to claim the continental title.

Striker Hammadi was named the MVP after scoring the final’s only goal on 70 minutes, helping his team defeat India’s JSW Bengaluru and netting his 16th goal of the competition in the process.

"We did our best to follow the instruction from our coaches," said the 27-year-old. "We were aiming to win the tournament and thank god we did. I would like to thank everyone who worked as hard as possible so we could reach this stage."
