AFC partners with IFRC to help affected COVID-19 communities

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC), through its AFC Dream Asia Foundation, has partnered with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) to identify and deliver direct assistance to communities whose lives have been greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

IFRC will focus on Asian countries who require priority assistance – Afghanistan, Malaysia, Mongolia and Cox’s Bazaar in Bangladesh – by providing medical services and supporting those in quarantine.

In addition, the Japan Football Association (JFA) has also generously pledged to donate their 2019 AFC Dream Asia Award - Inspiring Member Association prize to the IFRC initiatives.

More Member Associations join COVID-19 relief efforts

Kuala Lumpur: The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) with their national team head coach Tatsuma Yoshida and the Guam Football Association (GFA) continue to show initiative to help those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Yoshida and nine senior management staff at FAS have voluntarily established the OneStrong Fund to support poor families and children during the pandemic while GFA used their 2019 AFC Dream Asia Award - Aspiring Member Association prize to donate isolation gowns and a full body isolation equipment to the Guam Memorial Hospital.

Construction of Mongolia’s School No. 79 new pitch to commence

Ulaanbaatar: The construction of the new football pitch at Mongolia’s School No. 79 marked a major milestone on Monday after the Mongolian Football Federation (MFF) signed an agreement with football pitch contractors Derennaran LLC to commence the landmark project on May 10, 2020. 

Supported by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Dream Asia Foundation, the proposal to build a football pitch was initiated in 2018 after tragedy struck School No. 79 when an 11-year-old male student tragically died after a goal post fell on him.

AFC MAs continue to lend their support to help communities affected by COVID-19

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) Member Associations and Asian football leagues continue to contribute to communities who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

After donating USD1 million earlier, AFC Vice President and Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) President Zaw Zaw, who is also the AFC Social Responsibility Committee Chairperson, donated additional money and rice (approximately USD 20,000) to 208 Myanmar football players and former referees to help them survive this difficult time.

BFF begins Social Responsibility journey to help youths

Thimphu: The Bhutan Football Federation (BFF) has embarked on a year-long social responsibility programme, in conjunction with the AFC Dream Asia Foundation, to help youths conflicted with the law in the country.

BFF are working with Nashoen Lamtoen to organise programmes that use the power of football to reach out to convicted youths, who are often subjected to abuse, neglect and have been marginalised by society.

AFC MAs continue to contribute towards the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) Member Associations as well as Asian clubs and players continue to lend their unwavering support to the communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic by donating funds, medical supplies and hospital equipment. 

The Myanmar Football Federation (MFF), Chinese national team members and clubs exemplify the AFC’s Social Responsibility message that “Football Cares” by assisting the hospitals, medical teams and people in need.

FIFA’s Football for Schools launched in Myanmar

Yangon: Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Vice President and President of the Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) Zaw Zaw on Friday launched FIFA’s Football for Schools project in Myanmar at the Yangon Football Academy attended by State Counsellor and Nobel Peace Prize laureate H.E. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.  

To support this venture, President Zaw Zaw, Chairman of the AFC Social Responsibility Committee, also announced that he has donated a further 10,000 footballs towards this initiative.
