Group B: Vietnam strike late to hold Philippines; Myanmar edge Laos to keep hopes alive

Manila: Doan Ngoc Tan scored in the seventh minute of time added on as Vietnam salvaged a 1-1 draw in their 2024 ASEAN Championship Group B tie against the Philippines at the Rizal Memorial Stadium on Wednesday. 

The result took Vietnam - on seven points - within touching distance of the semi-finals as they only need to avoid defeat against Myanmar - who defeated Laos 3-2 - on Saturday to confirm their berth.

Philippines - on three points - still have a chance but they have to beat Indonesia and hope Myanmar lose to Vietnam.

Group D: Stalemate fails to stop Shan United

Yangon: Myanmar’s Shan United FC were held to a 2-2 draw by Tainan City FC of Chinese Taipei but still emerged as the Group D winners of the AFC Challenge League™ 2024/25 on Saturday.

By finishing top, Shan set up a quarter-final meeting with Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng of Cambodia while Tainan will face Indonesia’s Madura United.

Qualifiers - Group I: Kyrgyz Republic 1-2 Myanmar; Yemen 1-1 Vietnam

Viet Tri: Yemen played to a 1-1 draw with Vietnam to finish top of Group I and confirm their spot in the AFC U17 Asian Cup™ Saudi Arabia 2025 Finals on Sunday.

The win put Yemen on seven points, while Vietnam progressed as one of the best five runners-up.

Group D - MD1: Young Elephants FC (LAO) 0-2 Shan United FC (MYA)

Yangon: Ye Yint Aung starred with both goals as Myanmar's Shan United FC defeated Young Elephants of Laos 2-0 in their AFC Challenge League™ 2024/25 Group D tie at the Thuwunna Stadium on Sunday.

The result means Young Elephants will have to defeat Tainan City on Wednesday, with the Chinese Taipei side to face Shan United three days later in the three-team group.
