AFC Executive Committee (term 2023-2027): Candidates for election announced

In accordance with Article 32.1 of the AFC Statutes (Edition 2022), the AFC’s Member Associations (MAs) were notified on August 15, 2022 that the election of members for the AFC Executive Committee (term 2023-2027) would be held at the 33rd AFC Congress in Manama, Bahrain, on February 1 and 2, 2023.

The MAs had until October 1, 2022 to submit the nomination of their candidates for election to the AFC Executive Committee, as per the requirements set out in the AFC Statutes (Edition 2022)  and the AFC Electoral Code (Edition 2022) for the following positions:

Gianni Infantino praises the success of Asian football

Manama: Gianni Infantino praised the success of Asian football during the 32nd Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Congress, where he received wholehearted support for his candidacy in next year’s FIFA Presidential election.

Emphasising his close working relationship with AFC President and FIFA Senior Vice-President Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the FIFA President pledged to keep working “side by side” with the AFC and said that continuity would bring even greater results, ahead of a most important year for football in Asia, with the FIFA World Cup™ kicking off in Qatar in just over 6 months from now.

AFC President praises Asian football family for spearheading road to recovery

Manama: Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa reiterated his praise towards the AFC’s Member Associations (MAs) and Regional Associations (RAs) for their commitment in charting the AFC’s steadfast and sustainable recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic at the 32nd AFC Congress held virtually today.

The AFC President said: “As we take a moment to reflect, it is clear that the AFC, our members and our Regional Associations are well on the road to recovery.
