Japan lead AFC Women’s Club Competition Mid-Season Rankings

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has confirmed the latest AFC Women’s Club Competition Mid-Season Rankings, with Japan taking up the top spot.

The East Asians lead with 100 points while Australia and Korea Republic find themselves in the second and third places, respectively.

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) further underlined its commitment to maximising the potential of its Member Associations (MAs) and Regional Associations (RAs) when it conducted the AFC Match Commissioners (MC) Seminar 2024 in the Malaysian capital city of Kuala Lumpur from August 26 to 29, 2024.

With the new era of AFC club competitions set to kick off in a month’s time, the seminar, attended by almost 100 participants, served as an excellent opportunity for existing as well as new MCs to gain an enhanced understanding of their roles and responsibilities.

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) further underlined its ambitions to enhance the landscape of Asian club football by conducting the AFC Professional Football Seminar 2024, which concluded on Thursday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Held from August 20 to 22, a total of 100 participants engaged in insightful discussions aimed at propelling Asian football to greater heights.

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s commitment towards maximising the capabilities of its Member Associations (MAs) reached a significant milestone with the conclusion of the AFC VAR Information Officer (VIO) Workshop 2024 on Thursday.

Taking place in a physical setting for the first time, the workshop was attended by 43 participants comprising of existing and newly nominated VIOs as well as observers from across 23 MAs and featured insightful presentations from experts from the AFC’s sister confederation UEFA, as well as FIFA.

Kuala Lumpur: As Asian club football prepares to enter a new era, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has reaffirmed its determination to maintain the highest officiating standards with the implementation of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system across its revamped three-tier club structure as well as the inaugural AFC Women’s Champions League™ for the 2024/25 season.

Befitting the status of the newly introduced AFC Champions League Elite™, which will see the Continent’s top 24 teams battle for glory, the tournament will implement VAR from the League Stage, which kicks off this September.

With a total of 103.148 points to their name, chart-toppers Saudi Arabia are followed by Japan and Korea Republic in the second and third places respectively.

Led by Chairperson Dr. Tran Quoc Tuan, the Committee commenced proceedings by expressing their best wishes to Al Ain FC and Yokohama F. Marinos ahead of their epic showdown in the second leg of the AFC Champions League™ Final at the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium tomorrow.

AFC Champions League™ paves way for PMAs to realise VAR ambitions

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s continuous efforts to empower its Member Associations (MAs) reached a significant milestone when the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system was introduced to the AFC Champions League™ 2023/24 Group Stage matches for the first time earlier this week. 

Implemented from the Knockout Stage since 2020, the 2023/2024 edition will mark the fourth instance of the AFC employing the use of the technology in the competition.

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Professional Football Task Force outlined its ambitions towards establishing a sustainable blueprint aimed at elevating the professional standards of Asian club football at its first meeting in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday. 

Led by Chairperson and former Korea Republic captain Park Ji-sung, the Task Force further empshasised the Confederation’s resolve, as underlined in its Vision and Mission, to ensure the continuous success of Asian teams on the world stage.
