Singapore: An Olympian, a refugee and one of the most prolific goal scorers in the history of Singaporean football - few players anywhere have a story with as many twists, turns and triumphs as Aleksandar Durić.
Born in 1970, Durić would famously leave his war-torn homeland to hitchhike his way to competing for Bosnia at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, only for his footballing exploits to evolve into an equally remarkable tale.
After establishing himself as a professional in Australia and China, a former teammate’s recommendation took him to Singapore, sparking a 15-year, 387-goal love-affair which saw Durić make an international debut at the age of 37 and win the 2012 AFF Cup before finally retiring as a beloved figure in 2014.
In conversation with the-AFC.com, Singapore’s Olympian goal-machine looks back of over his extraordinary career, and his plans to guide the next generation of Singaporeans in his role with the ActiveSG academy.

Singapore: Albirex Niigata FC (S) added another trophy to their haul this season after beating Brunei DPMM FC 4-1 in the Singapore Cup final at Jalan Besar Stadium on Saturday.
Albirex captain Wataru Murofushi led the way with a brace that sandwiched Adam Swandi’s strike, before Hiroyoshi Kamata added a fourth. Azwan Ali Rahman netted a late consolation goal for DPMM, who fell short in their bid to win the Cup for the first time.
The White Swans are the first team to win the Singapore Cup four times in a row, having first won it in 2015. They have also made a clean sweep of trophies for the third year running, having been crowned Singapore Premier League champions last month on top of defending the Community Shield earlier this year.
Earlier, Balestier Khalsa FC claimed the second runners-up spot after winning 5-4 on penalties over Home United FC. The match ended in a 2-2 draw at full time.

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia sealed top spot in Group A after beating Laos 3-1 in their final Kuala Lumpur 2017 SEA Games men's football preliminary round match at the Shah Alam Stadium on Wednesday.
The win means the hosts will be the only team in the semi-finals with a perfect record, which will be something the other sides will be wary of.
Malaysia coach Ong Kim Swee, with his eyes on Saturday's semi-finals, gave several of his fringe players the chance to get some game time.
Despite that, the home fans expected a Malaysian win and despite their team not playing as fluently as they did in the 3-1 win over Myanmar on Monday, there were enough signs to indicate the three points would be theirs.
Malaysia's first look at goal was a half chance for Jafri Firdaus Chew (pictured above) in the 12th minute but the player failed to connect cleanly from just outside the six yard box.
Another chance went abegging in the 21st minute when Syafiq Ahmad, the recipient of a cross from Chew, missed the target.
Five minutes later, Malaysia got their opening goal as an alert Chew slotted home the ball after Ahmad's header had rebounded off the crossbar.

Kuala Lumpur: Myanmar were at their best yet again, beating Brunei Darussalam 6-0, while Singapore scored their first win with a 2-0 triumph over Laos in Kuala Lumpur 2017 Sea Games men's football Group A action on Friday.
Myanmar scored their third straight win and they warmed up for the August 21 showdown against hosts Malaysia perfectly at the UiTM Shah Alam Stadium.
Brunei, beaten 1-2 by Malaysia in their opening match, did well to defend their fort early on but had no answers when Aung Thu (pictured above) decided to take matters into his own hands.
The Myanmar striker already had three goals to his name from the earlier matches against Singapore and Laos, and got his fourth in the 24th minute.
