Al Taawoun’s Abdali satisfied, Tractor’s Skocic rues stalemate

Tabriz: Al Taawoun FC head coach Mohammed Al Abdali was content with the result after the Saudi Arabia side walked away with a goalless draw against Esteghlal FC in their AFC Champions League Two 2024/24 quarter-final first leg on Tuesday.

Islamic Republic of Iran’s Esteghlal dominated the tie but failed to find a breakthrough with Abdali confident his team will complete their task in next week’s return leg at home.

Tabriz: Tractor FC of Islamic Republic of Iran and Saudi Arabia's Al Taawoun FC played out an entertaining 0-0 draw in their AFC Champions League Two™ 2024/25 quarter-final first leg tie at the Yadegar-E-Imam Stadium on Tuesday.

Al Taawoun keeper Abdulquddus Atiiay had to be at his best, making saves from Tractor’s Tomislav Strkalj, Ricardo Alves and Amirhossein Hosseinzadeh to keep his team in the game going into the second leg.

Tehran: Al Nassr Club head coach Stefano Pioli expressed dismay over his team's inability to convert their chances in the tense 0-0 draw with Esteghlal FC in their AFC Champions League Elite™ 2024/25 Round of 16 first leg at the Azadi Stadium on Monday.

Despite missing Cristiano Ronaldo and Aymeric Laporte, Al Nassr dominated large spells of the match and created several clear-cut opportunities without converting, leaving the tie finely balanced with the return leg to be played next week.

Shenzhen: Head coach Yuzo Funakoshi was proud of his players’ perseverance after Japan secured a 4-3 penalty victory over Islamic Republic of Iran in their  AFC U20 Asian Cup™ China 2025 quarter-final on Sunday.

QF: Japan edge IR Iran on penalties to book last four spot

Shenzhen: Rion Ichihara scored the winning penalty as Japan defeated Islamic Republic of Iran 4-3 on penalties after their AFC U20 Asian Cup™ China 2025 quarter-final ended 1-1 at the Shenzhen Youth Football Training Base Centre Stadium on Sunday.
