Pizzi’s tactical changes secure Kuwait vital draw

Ardhiyah: Kuwait head coach Juan Antonio Pizzi praised his team’s second-half performance after their come from behind 1-1 draw with Jordan in their AFC Asian Qualifiers™ – Road to 26 Group B clash on Tuesday.

Kuwait found themselves trailing to Yazan Al Naimat’s curling effort, with Pizzi making key substitutions after the break which he said improved his team’s control of the game.

Ardhiyah: Kuwait came from behind to force a 1-1 draw against Jordan in their AFC Asian Qualifiers™ - Road to 26 Group B encounter on Tuesday.

Yazan Al Naimat had put Jordan ahead in the first half but Mohammad Daham came to Kuwait’s rescue with a stunning strike from distance to take home a share of the spoils, with Jordan moving to nine points and Kuwait five adrift. 

Korea Republic lead the Group B standings with 14 points with Iraq three behind in second.

Basra: Head coach Jesus Casas was not too disheartened despite his Iraq side being held to a goalless draw by Jordan in their AFC Asian Qualifiers™ – Road to 26 Group B tie on Thursday.

Iraq took a long time to settle into the match, and it wasn’t until after the break that they were able to put some form of pressure on their opponents with Casas taking positives from the improvements shown in the second half.

Basra: It was honours even between Iraq and Jordan after they settled for a goalless draw in their AFC Asian Qualifiers™ – Road to 26 Group B encounter on Thursday.

The stalemate left things unchanged for Jordan and Iraq in Group B as they stayed in second and third respectively, both on eight points and still very much in the hunt for a place at the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Amman: Al Wehdat SC maintained their unbeaten run in the AFC Champions League Two™ 2024/25 after defeating FC Istiklol 1-0 in their Group C tie on Tuesday.

The win took the Jordanian side to 10 points and within striking distance of the knockout stage while Istiklol were eliminated with two matches to spare after suffering a fourth consecutive defeat.
