Saitama: Yuto Nagatomo revelled in scoring his first goal in a decade as Japan strolled to a 6-0 win over Mongolia on Thursday to establish themselves at the summit of Group F of the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023.
The Galatasaray full-back netted his side’s third goal in a comfortable win over their East Asian rivals after Takumi Minamino had given Hajime Moriyasu’s side the lead and Maya Yoshida doubled the home team’s advantage.

Saitama: Japan overcame early frustrations to notch up a comfortable 6-0 win over Mongolia at Saitama Stadium on Thursday as Hajime Moriyasu’s side maintained their perfect start to their Asian Qualifiers campaign.
Goals from Takumi Minamino, Maya Yoshida, Yuto Nagatomo and Kensuke Nagai in the first half put Japan in command before second half efforts from Hiroki Nagai and Daichi Kamada sealed an emphatic victory on their road to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023.
The win means the Japanese sit on six points from their first two games in Group F, having secured a 2-0 win over Myanmar in their opening game last month.

It was top vs bottom going into the game as Saudi Arabia had drawn with Yemen 2-2 in their first game and sat at the foot of the group with a single point, while Singapore had also collected a point with the same score against Yemen, then beat Palestine 2-1 to top the group with four points.
