Guangzhou: Marcello Lippi is keeping his sights trained on a place in the next round of the Asian Qualifiers after seeing his side notch up a second straight win on Thursday with a 7-0 victory over Guam at Tianhe Stadium in Guangzhou.
Yang Xu scored four and there were also goals from Wu Lei, Wu Xi and Elkeson as China PR followed up their 5-0 win over the Maldives last month by claiming another comfortable three points on the road to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
China now lead Group A alongside Syria with six points out of a possible six and next face the Philippines in Bacolod on Tuesday.

Guangzhou: Yang Xu scored four first half goals as China PR brushed aside the challenge of Guam at the Tianhe Stadium on Thursday as Marcello Lippi’s side notched a 7-0 victory in Group A of the Asian Qualifiers.
The win was China’s second in a row in Group A following a 5-0 win over Maldives in their opening game last month and ensures the Lippi-coached side go into Tuesday’s meeting with the Philippines in Bacolod with a perfect record as they continue their bid to qualify for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Dubai: Omar Al Somah bagged a brace for the second game running to lead 10-man Syria to a 2-1 victory over the Maldives on Matchday Three of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 Asian Qualifiers Group A at Rashid Stadium on Thursday.
The two sides came into the Matchday Three fixture on the back of contrasting results. Syria had beaten the Philippines 5-2 in the opening day of the Qualifiers, while the Maldives were on the receiving end of a 5-0 defeat by China PR on Matchday Two.
