Group J: Cerezo Osaka come from behind to defeat Kitchee as Damjanovic sets all time AFC Champions leading scorer record

Buriram: Dejan Damjanovic became the all-time leading scorer in the AFC Champions League on Sunday when the Kitchee SC striker hit his 38th goal in the competition despite the Hong Kong champions slipping to an agonising 2-1 loss against Cerezo Osaka at Buriram Stadium.

Damjanovic, who had pulled level with Lee Dong-gook at the top of the scorers’ chart on Thursday, scored in the 38th minute to notch up another goal in the continental competition and continue his remarkable record.

But two goals in two second half minutes from Adam Taggart and Tiago Pagnussat saw Cerezo fight back to take all three points and move to the top of Group J with a perfect record in their first two games.

Group J: Port FC defeat Guangzhou FC to revive AFC Champions League hopes

Buriram: Port FC picked up their first-ever AFC Champions League victory on Sunday as goals from Elias Dolah, Pakorn Prempak and Philip Roller earned the Thai League side a 3-0 win over Guangzhou FC in a Group J tie.

Elias opened the scoring in the 21st minute and Pakorn headed in a second 15 minutes after the interval to ignite the debutant club’s challenge for a place in the knockout rounds after Thursday’s loss to Kitchee. Roller added the third 14 minutes from time.

The loss was the second in a row for a youthful Guangzhou side undone again by vulnerability in the heart of their defence three days after being ruthlessly exposed in similar fashion by Cerezo Osaka.
