Injury sidelines Sharjah’s Majid Surour for remainder of season

Al Sharjah: Sharjah FC defender Majid Surour has been ruled out for the rest of the UAE Pro League season after suffering a cruciate ligament injury.

The 23-year-old UAE international, who rose through the ranks after his successful transition from the youth side, suffered the injury during Sharjah’s 3-0 defeat against Al Jazira in a UAE Pro League tie on Friday.

Iraq’s Al Shorta bolster squad with Gelmin Rivas, Fahd Youssef

Baghdad: Five-time Iraqi Premier League champions Al Shorta SC have announced the signings of Venezuelan forward Gelmin Rivas and Syrian international Fahd Youssef ahead of their 2021 AFC Champions League campaign.

The 31-year-old Rivas has already started training with the first team and joins Al Shorta on a free transfer after ending his stint with MLS outfits DC United while Youssef has signed following his loan spell with Syria's Hutten SC.
