Resan credits defence for taking Persepolis through to AFC Champions League semi-finals

Doha: Bashar Resan hailed Persepolis' defensive resilience after the Islamic Republic of Iran side advanced to a third AFC Champions League semi-final in four years with a 2-0 win over Uzbekistan’s Pakhtakor on Wednesday.

Isa Al Kasir's second half braced at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium secured the win but Iraqi midfielder Resan said it was the good work at the back which powered Persepolis to victory.

Doha: Pity Martinez believes Al Nassr produced a perfect performance in their 2-0 win against Al Ahli Saudi FC in the quarter-finals of the 2020 AFC Champions League on Wednesday.

The Argentinian forward gave Al Nassr the lead after only 13 minutes before Abdulfattah Asiri added the second goal 10 minutes into the second half at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium to steer the Saudi Pro League side into the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League for the first time in their history.

Doha: Al Nassr reached the AFC Champions League semi-final for the first time in their history after a convincing 2-0 win over compatriots Al Ahli Saudi FC at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on Wednesday.

Both teams went into the quarter-final game with their strikers looking to extend personal scoring runs; Al Ahli’s Omar Al Soma had scored 10 goals in his 10 league starts against Al Nassr, while Abderazzak Hamdallah was level with Shanghai SIPG’s Hulk in scoring in nine consecutive AFC Champions League matches, and was hoping to make the record his.
