ACL2020 MD2 Toyota Player of the Week: Teruhito Nakagawa

Kuala Lumpur: Yokohama F.Marinos' Teruhito Nakagawa has been named the Toyota Player of the Week for Matchday Two of the 2020 AFC Champions League.

Yokohama F. Marinos forward Teruhito Nakagawa netted a brace to help the J.League champions ease past Australia's Sydney FC 4-0 at home in Wednesday's Group H tie as the 27-year-old picked up this week's top player plaudit.

Nakagawa's two goals came from two shots on target, with his first effort, a deft chip over Sydney FC goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne, nominated for Goal of the Week. The wide forward also created three chances for his teammates.

Sharjah: Head coach Abdelaziz Al Yassi has described Sharjah FC's 2-2 draw with Persepolis FC in their AFC Champions League 2020 Group C match as a positive result. 

Sharjah found themselves behind after only nine minutes at the Sharjah Stadium on Tuesday as Ali Alipour gave the visitors the lead before Mohammed Khalfan leveled the tie for the home side.

Fatigue reason for Suwon's defeat, says head coach Lee

Suwon: Suwon Samsung Bluewings head coach Lee Lim-saeng blamed tiredness for his team’s late loss at the hands of Vissel Kobe in Group G of the 2020 AFC Champions League on Wednesday, as the two-time Continental champions lost out to Kyogo Furuhashi’s last minute goal.

The game looked destined for a 0-0 draw until Furuhashi slid in to push Gotoku Sakai’s low cross from the left past goalkeeper No Dong-geon to give Thorsten Fink’s side a second straight win in Kobe’s first-ever AFC Champions League campaign.

But while Vissel were playing their third game of the season, having won the Japanese Super Cup against Yokohama F. Marinos prior to their AFC Champions League opener against Johor Darul Ta’zim, Suwon were making their first appearance of the 2020 season leaving Lee to lament his side’s rustiness.
