Group A: Vietnam 0-3 DPR Korea

Chonburi: DPR Korea sealed a place in the semi-finals of the AFC U-19 Women’s Championship Thailand 2019 after defeating Vietnam 3-0 in a Group A tie at the IPE Stadium on Wednesday.

The win took the 2007 champions to six points and with Australia defeating Thailand 3-1 in the group's later match on Wednesday, DPR Korea were assured of a top two finish.

Vietnam will lock horns with their East Asian opponents knowing that a win could well propel them into the semi-finals, while – in the group’s other fixture – host nation Thailand are set to face Australia in a game that neither team can afford to lose if they are to keep alive their hopes of reaching the last four.

Chonburi: Myanmar captain San Thaw Thaw has vowed her team will bounce back from their opening day defeat to defending champions Japan in Group B of the AFC U-19 Women’s Championship Thailand 2019.

Thet Thet Win’s side held the East Asians at bay for the first 30 minutes but finally succumbed as goals from Yuzuki Yamamoto and Haruka Osawa gave Japan the advantage at half-time.

Myanmar conceded three further goals after the break to eventually lose 5-0 and find themselves at the foot of the group standings, behind third-placed China who also lost their opening encounter.

Chonburi: Captain Dou Jiaxing and livewire midfielder Han Xuan have no doubt that China PR have what it takes to bounce back from their Matchday One defeat to Korea Republic when they face Myanmar in a crucial Group B encounter on Thursday.

A Kang Ji-woo brace – the first of which came within the game’s opening minute – ultimately proved China’s undoing as they were beaten 2-1 by their regional rivals despite Han Xuan’s superb first-half equaliser.

Kim Yun-ok hails DPR Korea unity after opening day win 

Chonburi: DPR Korea forward Kim Yun-ok has hailed her team’s exceptional unity following their 5-1 win over Australia at the AFC U-19 Women’s Championship Thailand 2019 on Sunday.

Despite falling behind to an early Kyra Cooney-cross header, former title winners DPR Korea recovered superbly to take a 2-1 lead going into the break.

Song Sung-gwon’s charges never looked back after that, adding three more goals in the second period to claim an emphatic victory and, with it, top spot in Group A.

Chonburi: Vietnam made an ideal start to their AFC U-19 Women’s Championship Thailand 2019 Group A campaign on Sunday as a second-half penalty from captain Nguyen Thi Tuyet Ngan and Ngan Thi Van Su’s late effort helped them secure a vital 2-0 win over regional rivals and host nation Thailand.

The hard-fought victory saw Vietnam go second in the Group A standings following DPR Korea’s comprehensive 5-1 defeat of Australia earlier in the day.
