AFC Women's Asian Cup India 2022 Qualifiers - Group C: Indonesia beat Singapore to get on track

Dushanbe: Indonesia took a significant step towards ending one of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup’s longest droughts, winning 1-0 on Friday in the first of two India 2022 Qualifiers against Singapore.

A Baiq Amiatun Shalihah header in the opening minutes proved decisive, meaning Rudy Eka Priyambada’s side can secure the nation’s first AFC Women’s Asian Cup appearance since 1989 simply by avoiding defeat against the same opponents in Monday’s return match.

All is not lost for Singapore, however. The Lionesses’ narrow margin of defeat means they will go into Monday’s clash knowing a win by two goals or more will send them to January’s Finals at Indonesia’s expense.
