Kuala Lumpur: A dedicated training workshop for integrity officers from FIFA member associations across Asia took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 16-19 March 2015.
The initiative is part of the FIFA-INTERPOL campaign against match fixing. This special fact-finders’ course, conducted in collaboration with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), is designed to prepare integrity officers tasked with establishing the facts and investigating reports of match manipulation in the world of football.
The comprehensive training initiative has been developed in response to the current issues faced by the international football community. It focuses on the best methods to investigate allegations of match manipulation and aims to build on the national capacity of FIFA’s member associations to carry out effective inquiries whilst also enabling a coordinated and comprehensive response to suspicious incidents of potential match manipulation.
The course is a keystone of the 10-year initiative established between FIFA and INTERPOL in May 2011 to develop and implement a training, education and prevention programme to enhance awareness of match-fixing and corruption in football.
FIFA Security Division, in partnership with INTERPOL’S Integrity in Sport Unit has developed a multifaceted programme to assist football associations, government departments, law enforcement agencies and other relevant stakeholders in developing coordinated strategies to tackle match-fixing at national, regional and international level.
