AFC rallies communities to support OFC’s ‘Li’oa Ma’a Tonga’ – Give your all, for Tonga campaign

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has called on the Asian football family and world football to support the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC)’s worthy campaign aimed at mobilising support for Tonga, following this month’s devastating volcanic eruption and tsunami which caused widespread damage throughout the Kingdom.

The campaign is called Li’oa Ma’a Tonga, which in English translates to ‘Give your all, for Tonga,’ with members of the public to donate through the official Givealittle page which will be managed by the OFC.

AFC contribution brings joy, helps restart football in flood-affected Central Vietnam provinces

Vietnam: Thousands of football-loving students had reasons to smile after the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) helped restart the sport last month in five provinces heavily impacted by severe flooding and landslides.

Supported by the AFC Dream Asia Foundation, the VFF purchased football equipment that included goals, nets, bibs and markers for 100 schools in Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue and Quang Nam. These provinces in Central Vietnam had experienced prolonged and heavy rainfall since October 2020, causing numerous casualties and widespread damage.

AFC Dream Asia Foundation receives resounding support from Saudi Arabian Football Federation

Riyadh: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s commitment to leverage on the power of football for social development, as underlined in its Vision and Mission, received a significant boost on Tuesday after the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) pledged USD500,000 to the AFC Dream Asia Foundation.

AFC President and Patron of the AFC Dream Asia Foundation Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, who received the cheque from SAFF President Yasser Hassan M Almisehal in a special ceremony held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, expressed his appreciation to the SAFF for sharing the AFC’s belief to empower and strengthen vulnerable communities across the Continent.

BFF to build on the legacy of successful youth campaign

Thimpu: The Bhutan Football Federation (BFF), with the support of the AFC Dream Asia Foundation, has successfully organised a year-long campaign which focused on the rehabilitation of convicted youths.

BFF, together with their partner Nazhoen Lamtoen, a non-profit organisation dedicated to helping youths, launched the campaign in 2020 to use football as a unifying force for the outreach of convicted youths who are often subjected to abuse, neglect and have been marginalised by society.

Since the start of the campaign, a total of 150 youths participated in the social responsibility programme, where they learned the basics of football, refereeing and participated in weekly training sessions.

AFC Youth SR Ambassador from FFIRI champions women’s empowerment

Tehran: Helia Piltan, an Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Youth Social Responsibility Ambassador initiated a project which aims to further promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Supported by the Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran (FFIRI), the two-hour online session covered various topics such as the creation of equal employment and educational opportunities, equal wages in sports, broadcasting as well as media and public support for women's sports.
