HKFA widens grassroots initiatives to parents

Hong Kong: The Hong Kong Football Association LTD. (HKFA), a silver member in the AFC Grassroots Charter, has extended their grassroots activities to parents by launching an innovative Parents Volunteer Programme – Parents Seminar and Workshop. 

HKFA aims to provide a safer and conducive environment for children, and the latest series of programmes were mooted to encourage better parental support that is proven to help in the development of young children in the sport.

Grassroots managers gain valuable insights from best practices in the latest special online session

Kuala Lumpur: Nearly 100 Technical Directors, Coach Education Tutors and Heads of Grassroots Football from across 43 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Member Associations (MAs) were presented with an opportunity to obtain valuable insights on the best practices by the Japan Football Association (JFA), an AFC Grassroots Charter Gold Member, in the latest Grassroots Special Online Session held on Thursday.

AFC Technical Director Andy Roxburgh set the tone at the session by sharing the importance of growing the passion for football across the Continent as well as the essential role of coaches in understanding the subtleties in developing footballers.

CTFA’s Grassroots Football Day brings joy to mask-wearing youngsters

New Taipei City: The Chinese Taipei Football Association (CTFA) held their Grassroots Football Day on November 14 at the Aletheia University after postponing the event during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure the health and wellbeing of participants.

Organised with the support of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), the New Taipei City government and other partners, the event attracted 447 participants comprising coaches, parents, children ages five to 12 and volunteers. It was aimed at igniting a passion for the sport, inculcating admirable qualities and providing everyone with an unforgettable experience.

HKFA awarded AFC Grassroots Charter Silver Membership

Hong Kong: The Hong Kong Football Association Ltd.’s (HKFA) application to upgrade their status to a silver membership in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s Grassroots Charter has been approved in recognition of their continuous commitment and efforts to develop grassroots football.

As one of the first Member Associations (MAs) to receive the AFC Grassroots Charter Membership in 2018, the HKFA created a systematic five-year strategic plan which provided the direction in all aspects of football development while highlighting the significance of grassroots growth.

Syrian FA expands the reach of grassroots football to people with hearing disabilities

Damascus: The Syrian Football Association (SFA) continued to promote football to people across the country regardless of their background and abilities by introducing a Syria Cup Futsal Football Championship for those with hearing impairment. 

Together with the Paralympic Committee in Syria, SFA worked with cities in the country to establish a local tournament with the winner representing their city in the Syria Cup Championship.
 
A total of six teams from six cities - Damascus, Lattakia, Aleppo, Quneitra, As Suwayda and Daraa - participated in the seven-day competition with each team consisting of one head coach, 10 players and several staff members.

Macau FA enjoys renewed AFC Grassroots Charter Bronze Membership

Macau: The Macau Football Association (AFM) recently had their AFC Grassroots Charter Bronze Membership renewed, thanks to their continuous dedication and focus in upgrading grassroots programmes throughout Macau.

In approving their three-year-old membership renewal, the AFC Grassroots Panel cited the AFM’s strategic plans, age-group competition structure, event-organising capabilities, partnerships and adult-education projects. Despite limited resources and facilities, all activities were well-received by participants and enjoyed government support.
