S-final, 1st Leg: Late strikes give Vietnam healthy advantage over Singapore

Singapore: Vietnam struck twice deep into added time to defeat Singapore 2-0 in their 2024 ASEAN Championship semi-final first leg at the Jalan Besar Stadium on Thursday.

Two-time winners Vietnam will be confident of completing the job when the sides meet in the return leg in Viet Tri on Sunday.

Defending champions Thailand face Philippines in the second semi-final in Manila on Friday.

Group B: Vietnam finish top; Philippines edge Indonesia to advance

Viet Tri: Vietnam burst into life in the second half to beat Myanmar 5-0 to finish top of Group B of the 2024 ASEAN Championship on Saturday.

Joining Vietnam in the semi-finals were the Philippines, who defeated 10-man Indonesia 1-0 to finish second.

Vietnam will face Singapore in the semi-finals while Philippines will meet defending champions Thailand.

Kuala Lumpur: The stage is set for the AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup™ Thailand 2025 following the draw at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday.

The 16 teams were divided into four groups with the tournament to be played at the Jomtien Beach in Pattaya from March 20 to 30, 2025.

Group B: Vietnam strike late to hold Philippines; Myanmar edge Laos to keep hopes alive

Manila: Doan Ngoc Tan scored in the seventh minute of time added on as Vietnam salvaged a 1-1 draw in their 2024 ASEAN Championship Group B tie against the Philippines at the Rizal Memorial Stadium on Wednesday. 

The result took Vietnam - on seven points - within touching distance of the semi-finals as they only need to avoid defeat against Myanmar - who defeated Laos 3-2 - on Saturday to confirm their berth.

Philippines - on three points - still have a chance but they have to beat Indonesia and hope Myanmar lose to Vietnam.

Pathum Thani: Bassel Jradi expressed pride after Bangkok United fought back from a goal down to edge Vietnam’s Nam Dinh FC 3-2 to secure top spot in Group G in the AFC Champions League Two™ 2024/25 on Wednesday. 

It was Jradi’s dazzling run inside the six-yard-box that drew the foul to bring Bangkok on level terms going into the break before the Lebanese midfielder struck the third late in the game to seal the win.
