Kuala Lumpur: The draw for the AFC U17 Asian Cup™ Saudi Arabia 2025 at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday produced four thrilling groups.

Kuala Lumpur: The groups for the AFC U17 Asian Cup™ Saudi Arabia 2025 were decided following the official draw at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday.

The 16 teams, divided into four groups, will not only be bidding for the coveted trophy but also for the eight spots at the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 – the first edition of the newly expanded 48-team strong annual tournament.

Kapadze takes charge of White Wolves

Tashkent: Timur Kapadze has been named the new Uzbekistan national team coach, replacing Srecko Katanec after the Slovenian left the post on Wednesday due to ill health.

The 43-year former defender, who led Uzbekistan to the AFC U23 Asian Cup Qatar 2023™ final last year, has joined the team’s training camp in Qatar to prepare for March’s AFC Asian Qualifiers™ – Road to 26 matches against Kyrgyz Republic and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Katanec steps down from Uzbekistan role

Tashkent: Srecko Katanec has stepped down as Uzbekistan head coach due to ill health, the Uzbekistan Football Association announcing the Slovenian had departed by mutual consent on Wednesday.

The 61-year-old has led the White Wolves to second place in Group A of the AFC Asian Qualifiers™ – Road to 26 but has left less than two months before Uzbekistan resume the qualifiers against Kyrgyz Republic in Tashkent on March 20.

Man City sign Uzbekistan defender Khusanov from Lens

London: Manchester City on Monday announced the signing of Uzbekistan centre-back Abdukodir Khusanov from French club Lens for a reported fee of 40 million euros (US$42 million) plus add-ons.

Khusanov, the first player from Uzbekistan to join a Premier League club, has signed a four-and-a-half year deal at the Etihad.

Tashkent: Australia topped Group C of the AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup™ China 2025 Qualifiers with a 2-1 win against the Philippines on Sunday.

Uzbekistan finished as the runners-up after a 6-2 defeat of Turkmenistan while there was cheer for the Philippines as they sealed a debut appearance at the Finals as the best third-placed side across the four groups. Australia will also be making a first appearance.

Australia finished with a perfect 12 points, while Uzbekistan edged the Philippines on goal difference, with both having accumulated seven points.

Tashkent: Australia showed grit as they came from behind to beat Uzbekistan 3-1 in their AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup™ China 2025 Qualifiers Group C tie on Friday, with victory confirming Australia’s ticket to the Finals.

In the earlier match, Turkmenistan defeated Kuwait 4-3 for the first win of their campaign.

Tashkent: The Philippines edged closer to a place in the Finals after defeating Turkmenistan 2-0 in their AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup™ China 2025 Group C fixture on Wednesday.

Uzbekistan bounced back from their opening day draw against the Philippines to hit five  unanswered goals against Kuwait.

Tashkent: The Philippines fought back against a resurgent Uzbekistan to take home a share of the spoils after a 3-3 stalemate in their AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup™ China 2025 Qualifiers Group C tie at the Yunusobod Sports Complex on Monday.

Australia, meanwhile, secured their second consecutive win after cruising to a 5-0 win over Kuwait.

Kuala Lumpur: The AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup™ China 2025 Qualifiers continue on Monday with Groups A and C to see Matchday Two action.

While there is still everything to play for in Group A after both Matchday One ties ended in stalemates, Australia and the Philippines set the early pace in Group C with impressive wins.

There is, however, still much to do for both in the five-team group if they are to advance to the Finals. The-AFC.com previews Matchday Two of the Qualifiers.

Group D - MD6: Shabab Al Ahli (UAE) 3-2 PFC Nasaf (UZB)

Dubai: Sardar Azmoun scored two goals in two minutes to lead Shabab Al Ahli to a 3-2 win over Uzbekistan’s Nasaf in Dubai on Wednesday as the side from the United Arab Emirates claimed top spot in Group D of the AFC Champions League Two™ 2024/25.

Azmoun’s double came in the 32nd and 34th minutes after Nasaf’s Akmal Mosgovoy had struck in the 30th minute to cancel out Mateusao’s 23rd minute opener. Zoran Marusic was also on target for the visitors on the stroke of halftime in a goal-filled first period.

The win moves Shabab Al Ahli onto 13 points from their six games and confirms Paulo Sousa’s side as winners of the group while Nasaf finish bottom of the standings on four points and are eliminated.
