#ChallengeLeague contenders gear up for Group Stage battles

Kuala Lumpur: The Continent’s aspiring teams will embark on their quest for glory when the keenly anticipated AFC Challenge League™ 2024/25 season gets underway on Saturday, October 26.

Set to shine the light on Asia’s emerging leagues, the revamped third tier men’s club competition comprises 18 teams in its inaugural edition. The Group Stage, featuring three groups of four teams each from the West and two groups involving three teams each from the East, will be played in a centralised league format.

Kuala Lumpur: The 18 hopefuls learnt their path to glory following the conclusion of the AFC Challenge League™ (ACGL) Group Stage Draw at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday.

The 18 teams were divided into five groups - three comprising four teams from the West each and two involving three teams from the East each with the gleaming new trophy also unveiled during the draw.

Kuala Lumpur: The final trophy in the Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) family of revamped club competitions was revealed on Thursday afternoon in Kuala Lumpur.

Amid the dazzling draw ceremony for the Group Stage of the AFC Challenge League™ (ACGL) 2024/25 season, the silverware on offer was showcased to a warm reception at the AFC House by AFC General Secretary, Datuk Seri Windsor John.

Santiago de los Caballeros: DPR Korea defeated Kenya 3-0 to seal their place in the quarter-finals of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Dominican Republic 2024 with a match to spare on Sunday.

The two-time champions confirmed their knockout stage spot after England came from behind to defeat Mexico 4-2 in Group C's other match on Sunday.

DPR Korea and England are both on six points and will meet on Wednesday to decide the group winners.

Santo Domingo: Japan battled from behind to beat Brazil 2-1 and leave themselves on the brink of a quarter-final place at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Dominican Republic 2024 on Sunday.

The victory moved the 2014 champions to four points and they only need to avoid defeat against Zambia on Wednesday to advance after Poland defeated the African side 2-0 in Group D's second tie on Sunday.

Poland are also on four points and they conclude their group stage campaign against Brazil, who have three points.
