#ACL - Matchday One in Numbers

Kuala Lumpur: The AFC Champions League™ 2023/24 got underway with a bang in the past week with 20 matches taking place across 18 countries as the group stage of the continental competition returned to its traditional home-and-away basis.

Eight former AFC Champions League winners are in the running for this year’s title, while a further eight sides were appearing in the group stage for the first time and a host of global superstars also made their debuts in the tournament. 
 
As the sides now look forward to the Matchday Two encounters in early October, the-AFC.com looks back at the week in numbers.

Qualifiers Round Two: Korea Republic seal Group A top spot in style

Buriram: Korea Republic topped Group A of the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup™ Indonesia 2024 Qualifiers Round 2 after a 7-2 win over Thailand on Saturday.

Both teams, however, had already sealed qualification to the Finals with a match to spare after wins over India and Islamic Republic of Iran.
 
India finished third after defeating Iran 3-0 earlier on Saturday.

Kitakyushu: Japan were on top of their game in an 8-0 win over Argentina in an international women's friendly match at the Mikuni World Stadium on Saturday.

Preparing for Round Two of the Paris 2024 Olympic Qualifiers, the Nadeshiko were simply too good for an Argentina side who found themselves trailing 4-0 going into the break.
