Al Faisaly win 20th Jordan Cup title

Amman: Al Faisaly made it a grand double by winning the 2019 Jordan Cup title, defeating Al Ramtha 2-0 in the final at the Amman International Stadium on Saturday.

It was their 20th Jordan Cup triumph, capping a season where they also won the 2018-19 Jordanian Pro League title.

Al Faisaly win Jordan title for 34th time

Kuala Lumpur: Ahmad Ersan's 69th minute strike sealed Al Faisaly the 2018-19 Jordanian Pro League title after they edged Al Baqaa 1-0 in their penultimate match of the season on Friday.

Al Faisaly went into the tie needing three points from their remaining two matches to seal the title for a 34th time and they made no mistake at the first time of asking.

The win took them to 50 points, four ahead of Al Jazeera with just one match remaining.

The title triumph secures Al Faisaly a place in the 2020 AFC Champions League preliminary stage.

Persepolis clinch sixth Hazfi Cup

Ahvaz: Ali Alipour was Persepolis FC's hero as his strike proved to be the difference in their 1-0 win over Damash Gilan to secure their sixth Hazfi Cup on Sunday.

On the back of defending their Iran Pro League title, the Tehran-based club achieved a domestic double by also claiming the Hazfi Cup.

The last time Persepolis had achieved such a feat was in 1999.

Abu Dhabi: 2003 AFC Champions League winners Al Ain missed out on direct qualification to the 2020 edition after falling 1-0 to Al Wahda as the 2018/19 UAE Pro-League came to a close on Sunday.

Sebastian Tagliabue was the star of the night at the Al Nahyan Stadium when he headed home in the 87th minute to ensure Al Wahda leapfrogged Al Ain to finish third in the standings on goal difference with 46 points. The Argentinian also clinched the topscorer award with 27 goals to his name, having played 25 matches.
