Kashima: Kashima Antlers will be on a mission to maximise home ground advantage in the first leg of the 2018 AFC Champions League final on Saturday, said head coach Go Oiwa.
Aware that Persepolis are an awesome force when playing at Tehran's Azadi Stadium, Oiwa said Kashima's target in the first leg at the Kashima Soccer Stadium is to win by several goals and not concede any.

Kashima: Japan’s Kashima Antlers and the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Persepolis will appear in the AFC Champions League final for the first time when they face off in the first leg of the showpiece event at Kashima Soccer Stadium on Saturday.
Both sides had narrow wins in the semi-finals just under two weeks ago as Kashima edged past Korea Republic’s Suwon Samsung Bluewings 6-5 on aggregate and Persepolis saw off Qatar’s Al Sadd 2-1 over two legs.
The game will be the first time either team has met opposition from the other side of the continent in the competition, with Kashima looking to make it back-to-back wins for Japan and Persepolis seeking a first title for Iran.

Kashima: Persepolis will play as they always do - to win - in Saturday's 2018 AFC Champions League final first leg at the Kashima Soccer Stadium.
With the second leg to be played in Tehran's Azadi Stadium - where Persepolis have been unbeatable in the AFC Champions League this season - the Islamic Republic of Iran giants may be forgiven if they opt for a safe approach on Saturday but head coach Branko Ivankovic said it would be business as usual.

Kashima: Kamal Kamyabinia has revealed that Persepolis are fully aware of which Kashima Antlers players pose the biggest threat as the two sides prepare to lock horns in the first leg of the 2018 AFC Champions League final at Kashima Soccer Stadium on Saturday.
The Iranian team have produced a trio of memorable wins in the knockout rounds, culminating in edging past Qatar’s Al Sadd in the semi-finals less than two weeks ago to raise hopes of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s first AFC Champions League title.
But they now face arguably their biggest test yet following the long trip to Japan against a Kashima side who were unbeaten in the quarter- and semi-finals and have scored 11 goals in their past five games on the continent.

Kashima: Daigo Nishi is determined to write a new page in Kashima Antlers’ rich history as the Japanese side prepare to do battle with Persepolis of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the 2018 AFC Champions League final.
Kashima are Japan’s most successful club, but despite claiming eight league titles, six League Cups, and five Emperor’s Cup crowns the Ibaraki giants have never tasted victory in Asian competition.
However, Nishi believes everything is in place for the team to put things right on that front this year.

Kuala Lumpur: As Kashima Antlers chase their first AFC Champions League title, their goalkeeper Kwoun Sun-tae is out to create history as he aims to become the first player to win the competition three times.
Not only is the 34-year-old shot-stopper playing in his third continental decider, he is also aiming to keep his one hundred percent record alive to become the first player to win three AFC Champions League titles since the competition was revamped in 2003.
In fact, were it not for having to perform his mandatory military service in 2011 and 2012, which saw him join military side Sangju Sangmu Phoenix on loan from Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, this would be his fourth continental decider after Jeonbuk also made the final in 2011.

Tehran: Persepolis goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand is fully focused on helping his side win the 2018 AFC Champions League ahead of Saturday's final first leg against Japan’s Kashima Antlers.
Beiranvand showed that in the second leg of the semi-final against Qatar's Al Sadd.
The score was 1-1 with just four minutes to go, a goal for Al Sadd would have effectively taken them to the AFC Champions League final at the expense of Persepolis. The ball was crossed for Spanish legend Xavi, who was left with a free header from just seven yards.
Nine times out of then, this play would have resulted a goal, but as the 81,000 fans present at Azadi Stadiums fell to complete silence, the Persepolis goalkeeper had different ideas. Beiranvand produced an impossible reflex save to tip Xavi’s header behind and rescue his team.
