Olăroiu hails Hosani after Sharjah seize top spot

Sharjah: Cosmin Olăroiu hailed goalkeeper Adel Al Hosani after Sharjah FC defeated FC Nasaf 1-0 in their AFC Champions League™ 2023/24 Group B tie on Monday.

With Sharjah leading 1-0 in stoppage time, the custodian kept out Azizbek Amonov’s spot-kick as the United Arab Emirates club moved to the top of the standings on seven points. 
 
Olăroiu admitted it had been a nervy wait for the full time whistle, with Majed Hassan sent off in added time.

Santo: Al Ittihad deserved the three points

Jeddah: Al Ittihad head coach Nuno Espírito Santo did not hide his delight after his side edged Air Force Club 1-0 in their AFC Champions League™ 2023/24 Group C tie on Monday.

Despite dominating the match at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, Al Ittihad had to wait till the fourth minute of stoppage time to net the winner through Abderrazak Hamdallah.

Riyadh: ِAl Hilal secured the three points in style against Mumbai City FC in Group D of the AFC Champions League™ 2023/24, with a 6-0 win at the King Fahd International Stadium on Monday. 

Two Serbian players contributed four of the six goals - Aleksander Mitrovic and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic - although the creation was equally split between Mohamed Al Burayk and Saud Abdulhamid for the first four goals, ensuring a superb shift for the two-time AFC Champions League winners.

Group B: Al Sadd SC (QAT) 6-0 Al Faisaly (JOR)

Doha: Al Sadd SC pulled themselves back into contention for a place in the knockout rounds of the AFC Champions League™ 2023-24 on Monday as the Qatari side handed 10-man Al Faisaly from Jordan a 6-0 defeat in Group B.

Baghdad Bounedjah scored a hat-trick while Gonzalo Plato, Mostafa Meshaal and Yusuf Abdurisag were also on target as the hosts punished Al Faisaly following the sending off late in the first half of Nizar Al Rashdan, with three goals in two second-half minutes sealing the result.
 
The win was Al Sadd’s first in three games in the competition so far this season and moves Bruno Pinheiro’s side onto four points – three points behind leaders Sharjah FC - as the group phase reaches the halfway stage while Al Faisaly remain rooted to the bottom of the standings without a point.

Sharjah: United Arab Emirates' Sharjah FC moved above FC Nasaf of Uzbekistan into pole position in Group B of the AFC Champions League™ 2023/24 on Monday as Cosmin Olaroiu’s side handed the Uzbek club a 1-0 defeat at Sharjah Stadium through Caio Lucas’s first half goal with Adel Al Hosani making a late penalty save.

The Brazilian winger struck five minutes into first half injury time before Al Hosani kept out Azizbek Amonov’s spot-kick to earn his side the three points and move the club from the United Arab Emirates onto seven points as the group phase reaches the halfway stage.

Jeddah: Al Ittihad narrowly beat Air Force Club after they held each other for much of the game, but the Saudis managed to claim a 1-0 win at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium on Monday in Group C of the AFC Champions League™ 2023/24.

Chances came aplenty for the Nuno Espirito Santo’s men, but a combination of wastefulness and good defending from Ayoub Odisho’s players meant the deadlock remained unbroken for 94 minutes, with Abderrazak Hamdallah finally giving the Jeddah-based side the win late on.

Namangan: Oston Uronov was the star for Uzbekistan’s Navbahor after they came from behind to beat Nassaji Mazandaran of Islamic Republic of Iran 2-1 in the AFC Champions League™ 2023/24 on Monday.

The result took unbeaten Navbahor to seven points in Group D as they edged closer to a place in the Round of 16.

Group C: AGMK FC (UZB) 1-3 Sepahan FC (IRN)

Olmaliq: The Islamic Republic of Iran’s Sepahan FC picked up their first win in Group C of the AFC Champions League™ 2023/24 after a convincing 3-1 victory over Uzbekistan’s AGMK FC at OKMK Sports Complex on Monday.

Sepahan went in front through a Ramin Rezaeian corner just after the half hour before a fantastic long-range effort from Mirjakhon Mirakhmadov saw the hosts equalise in the 36th minute.
 
Rezaeian’s delightful free-kick put the visitors back in front early in the second half before Reza Asadi netted Sepahan’s third and final goal as the hour approached to secure all three points.
