Riyadh: Al Hilal SFC and Pohang Steelers will be aiming to create history when they face off in the 2021 AFC Champions League final at the magnificent King Fahd International Stadium on Tuesday. 

Both are seeking an unprecedented fourth title, having each won the Asian Club Championship twice before it was rebranded to the AFC Champions League.

Korea Republic's Pohang Steelers won the AFC Champions League in 2009, with Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia lifting the trophy a decade later.

2021 AFC Champions League Final: 5 Things To Look Out For

Riyadh: Al Hilal SFC and Pohang Steelers are set for a date with destiny as the sides get ready to face off in the 2021 AFC Champions League final at the magnificent King Fahd International Stadium on Tuesday. 

The game marks the first time the Saudi Arabian and Korean teams have met on the continent since the 1997-98 Asian Club Championship semi-finals, when Pohang won 1-0 en route to being crowned kings of Asia.

Riyadh: Head coaches Leonardo Jardim and Kim Gi-dong expect a tough encounter when Al Hilal SFC take on Pohang Steelers in the 2021 AFC Champions League final at King Fahd International Stadium on Tuesday.

Both clubs boast a proud continental history in the competition, with Al Hilal having won it in 1991, 1999-2000 and 2019 while Pohang Steelers lifted the trophy in 1996, 1996-97 and 2009, meaning the winner will have the right to being called the single most successful club in AFC Champions League history.

To raise the stakes higher, the winning team will earn a place in the FIFA Club World Cup taking place in the UAE early next year.
