Substitutes deliver for Al Hussein

Amman: Head coach Joao Mota was in no doubt about what was the turning point in Al Hussein’s 2-1 win over PFC Nasaf on Wednesday, with the win keeping the Jordanian side well on course for the AFC Champions League Two™ 2024/25 knockout stage.

A brace from substitute Aref Haitham late in the game took Al Hussein to level with Shabab Al Ahli Dubai on six points with Mota attributing the win to a couple of substitutions.

Al Hussein started with four central midfielders in an attempt to frustrate Nasaf’s engine room and once the Uzbekistan side were smothered, the introduction of Haitham proved to be a masterstroke.
