#AFCCup: Cast for Playoffs finalised

Kuala Lumpur: The stage is set for a blockbuster AFC Cup™ 2023/24 Playoffs next week following the conclusion of the preliminary stage on Wednesday.

Seven matches will be contested on Tuesday and Wednesday and based on the exciting preliminary round action,  the playoff games are set to be thrilling encounters.

Kolkata: India's Mohun Bagan Super Giant secured the chance for another prolonged continental cup run after they defeated Nepal's Machhindra FC 3-1 in their AFC Cup™ 2023/24 Preliminary Stage 2 match at Salt Lake Stadium on Wednesday.

Last season's Inter-Zone semi-finalists Mohun Bagan Super Giant had Anwar Ali's aerial prowess to thank as the defender grabbed a brace to send his side through to the Playoff next week against Bangladesh's Abahani Dhaka Limited for a spot in the South Zone group stage.

Sylhet: Danilo Augusto's late strike sealed Abahani Dhaka Limited of Bangladesh a 2-1 win over Maldives' Club Eagles in their AFC Cup™ 2023/24 Preliminary Stage 2 tie at the Sylhet District Stadium on Wednesday. 

The win takes Abahani Dhaka to a playoff against either India's Mohun Bagan Super Giant or Machhindra FC of Nepal next week for a place in the South Zone group stage.

Phnom Penh: Cambodia's Phnom Penh Crown FC turned on the power in the second half to defeat Young Elephants FC of Laos 3-0 to advance to the AFC Cup™ 2023/24 Playoffs on Wednesday. 

The win takes Phnom Penh into a showdown with Singapore's Tampines Rovers next week for a place in the group stage.

Yangon: Influential midfielder Zaw Win Thein emerged the hero for Myanmar's Yangon United as they came from behind to secure a 2-1 win over DPMM FC of Brunei Darussalam at Thuwunna Stadium on Wednesday in a Preliminary Round 2 match of the 2023/24 AFC Cup™.

Win Thein's strike in the dying minutes of the game sealed Yangon the win against the 2022 Brunei FA Cup champions with the result sending The Lions through to a playoff against Indonesia's PSM Makassar next week.

Mary: Musa Nurnazarov's first half strike proved to be the all-important difference as Turkmenistan's FC Merw triumphed 1-0 over FC Alay of Kyrgyz Republic in their AFC Cup™ Preliminary Round 2 match at SportsComplex on Tuesday.

From a corner kick routine in the 13th minute, Nurnazarov headed in a perfect delivery from the left foot of Mukam Nazzyyev to send the home crowd into raptures.
 
Merw will face Tajikistan's FC Khujand in the Playoffs on August 22 for a place in the group stage.
