Hong Kong: Wofoo Tai Po secured a dramatic 4-2 victory over fellow Hong Kong side Kitchee SC on Wednesday to claim their first ever AFC Cup win.

Hsinchu: O Hyok-chol believes DPR Korea’s 4.25 SC have returned to the AFC Cup even better than in previous years after the Pyongyang side began their 2019 campaign with a 3-0 victory over Chinese Taipei’s Hang Yuen FC in Group I on Wednesday. 

O Hyok-chol side-footed 4.25 in front from 15 yards just after the half hour at Hsinchu Country Second Stadium before Son Pyong-il doubled their advantage in first-half stoppage time to give the visitors a comfortable lead at the interval.

The scores remained the same until the dying seconds, when substitute Kim Yu-song – the top scorer in the 2017 AFC Cup – rounded off proceedings in the 92nd minute as 4.25 enjoyed the perfect start.

Bacolod City: Stephan Schröck has emphasised the significance of Ceres Negros’ 1-0 victory over Indonesia’s Persija Jakarta in the 2019 AFC Cup on Wednesday as the Filipino side moved five points clear at the top of Group G. 

Ceres went into the game two points ahead of their opponents after claiming maximum points from their two previous games, but were up against arguably their biggest rivals for the one automatic qualification spot.

Bienvenido Maranon’s early strike ultimately settled proceedings as the striker’s fifth goal of the campaign proved enough for Ceres to finish the day in a commanding position at the midway point of the group stage.

Hong Kong: Two dramatic late goals gave Wofoo Tai Po their first ever AFC Cup victory as they beat Hong Kong rivals Kitchee SC 4-2 in their Matchday One Group I clash on Wednesday.

The visitors made a decent early opening when Igor Sartori’s low cross from the left found Sandro, but the striker couldn’t keep his shot down.

Hirokane Harima then had a good chance for the home side after a through pass from Jordi Tarres. But the striker’s tame effort lacked conviction and it was comfortably saved by Tai Po goalkeeper Tsang Man Fai.

New Taipei: DPR Korea champions 4.25 SC kicked off their 2019 AFC Cup Group I campaign with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Chinese Taipei’s Hang Yuan on Wednesday.

The visitors started the game on the front foot and Won Song’s spectacular curling effort from 20 yards brought out a flying save from Huang Chiu-Lin after 14 minutes.

Some determined defensive blocks kept 4.25 SC out on several occasions but the opening goal looked a matter of time as the Koreans continued to dominate.
