Guwahati: Masih Saighani's goal in added time secured Abahani Limited Dhaka a place in the 2019 AFC Cup Inter-Zone Semi-finals after the Bangladesh club edged Minerva Punjab FC 1-0 in Group E on Tuesday.
The win allowed the Bangladesh club entry into the next round while breaking Minerva Punjab’s streak of five draws in the tournament. With Chennaiyin FC locking horns with Manang Marshyangdi in the other fixture, the match was of key consequence for the fate of Group E. Eventually, defender Saighani’s goal ensured the result of the other match mattered little.
Although Abahani head coach Mario Lemos had said his team would try to stop Minerva Punjab, the Bangladesh side didn’t shy away from attacking from the start.

Kathmandu: Mohammed Rafi's 88th minute strike secured Chennaiyin FC a 3-2 win over Manang Marshyangdi Club in a 2019 AFC Cup Group E clash on Wednesday.
The win, however, was not enough for Chennaiyin to finish as group winners, as Bangladesh's Abahani Limited Dhaka clinched top spot after beating Minerva Punjab 1-0 in the other Group E tie.

Bogor: Becamex Bing Duong progressed to what will be an all-Vietnamese 2019 AFC ASEAN Zonal Final as they overcame Indonesia’s PSM Makassar on the away goals rule following a 2-2 aggregate draw.
Leading 1-0 from last week’s first leg, Binh Duong performed admirably throughout Wednesday's return fixture, as Wander Luiz’s fifth goal of the campaign in a 2-1 defeat ultimately helped set up a showdown with domestic rivals Hanoi FC who had beaten Ceres Negros FC a day earlier.
A second-half own goal and an Aaron Evans effort briefly gave Makassar a glimmer of hope, but it counted for nothing in the end as the Continental debutants bowed out following an impressive campaign.

Hanoi: Captain Nguyen Van Quyet hailed the Hanoi FC support who came out to cheer the Vietnamese side to a place in the 2019 AFC Cup ASEAN Zonal Final, after they defeated Ceres Negros of the Philippines 3-2 on aggregate following a 2-1 victory at Hang Day Stadium on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old Van Quyet led by example, providing the assist for Pape Omar Faye's opener before scoring a vital second himself from close range.
Substitute Curt Dizon did pull one back for the visitors with five minutes remaining, but the hosts were able to see out the tie and secure a place in the next round of the tournament for the first time since 2014 when, under the AFC Cup’s previous format, they reached the quarter-finals.

Amman: Al Jazeera recorded a historic comeback to reverse a 3-0 first-leg defeat against Al Jaish and earn a 4-0 victory in the second leg of the 2019 AFC Cup West Zonal semi-final on Tuesday, with the Jordanians advancing to the final with a 4-3 aggregate score.
Coming into the home second leg with a three-goal disadvantage, Al Jazeera were determined to show their fighting spirit from the get-go. And indeed, they started with a bang.
Within five minutes of the start, the Jordanians’ attacking intent was rewarded by an early goal. Feras Shelbaieh got on the end of a cross and sent it back across the mouth of goal first-time for Abdullah Al Attar who controlled, shielded the ball and fired into the roof of the net to put Al Jazeera in front.
Facing persistent attacks from the home side, Al Jaish slowly regrouped and tried to hit on the counter. Ahmad Ashkar led a swift attacking move, advancing into Al Jazeera’s box and firing from an angle, but goalkeeper Ahmad Abdelsattar made the save.

Hanoi: Goals from Pape Omar Faye and Nguyen Van Quyet helped Hanoi FC beat Ceres Negros FC 2-1 at the Hang Day Stadium on Tuesday to confirm their place in the 2019 AFC Cup ASEAN Zonal Final courtesy of a 3-2 aggregate win.
Both of Hanoi’s strikes came in a stirring second-half display as the hard-fought success saw the Vietnamese side progress to the next phase of the competition for the first time since 2014 when, under the AFC Cup’s previous format, they reached the quarter-finals.
By way of contrast to Hanoi’s delight, the result represents the second time in the last three editions of the AFC Cup that Ceres have failed to safely navigate this particular stage of the competition.

Beirut: Al Ahed held on to a goalless draw against Al Wehdat at the Sport City Stadium to book the first ticket to the 2019 AFC Cup West Zonal Final with a 1-0 aggregate win.
The Lebanese champions had earned a hard-fought victory in Amman a week earlier thanks to Mohammad Kdouh’s strike, and a draw was all they needed on Monday to reach the Zonal Final for the first time in their history.
After a cagey start, Ahmad Zreik thought he had opened the scoring for the hosts halfway through the opening 45 minutes when he cut inside on his left foot and unleashed a powerful drive from 30 yards out that beat goalkeeper Abdallah Al Fakhouri. Luck was on the side of Al Wehdat goalkeeper as the ball bounced off the post and into his arms.
