Tajikistan’s FC istiklol, India’s Chennaiyin FC and 4.25 SC of DPR Korea lead the way in Groups D, E and I respectively and further wins would edge them ever closer to the knockout rounds.

Analysis: FC Istiklol show their steel to secure pole position

Dushanbe: FC Istiklol strengthened their grip on Group D as a 4-1 win over Dordoi FC put them three points clear after Matchday Three of the 2019 AFC Cup on Wednesday.

The Tajik side were a little fortunate to lead 3-0 early in the second half thanks to two penalties and a deflected strike. But they showed steel to withstand a spirited second half from Dordoi before sealing the three points.

It's a great feeling to be top of the group, says Thapa

Ahmedabad: Chennayin FC midfielder Anirudh Thapa hailed an important victory after his team edged to 1-0 victory over Abahani Limited Dhaka to move clear at the top of Group E in the 2019 AFC Cup.

In a close match, the Indian Super League side earned three points thanks to a late own goal from Wellington Priori, who deflected Thapa’s low cross in at the near post.

It took until the 79th minute for the home side to make the breakthrough and Thapa paid tribute to the resolute defending that provided the foundation for a vital win.

Hong Kong: Two dramatic late goals gave Wofoo Tai Po their first ever AFC Cup victory as they beat Hong Kong rivals Kitchee SC 4-2 in their Matchday One Group I clash on Wednesday.

The visitors made a decent early opening when Igor Sartori’s low cross from the left found Sandro, but the striker couldn’t keep his shot down.

Hirokane Harima then had a good chance for the home side after a through pass from Jordi Tarres. But the striker’s tame effort lacked conviction and it was comfortably saved by Tai Po goalkeeper Tsang Man Fai.
